It’s driven by two separate components: eForce and eAssist.
With eForce, firms set their own billing rules/guidelines or enter rules handed down by a client or insurance carrier on a “per matter” basis. This way, when a timekeeper enters time, errors are immediately identified and corrected, thus avoiding rejected e-bills, avoiding appeals, and avoiding lost time.
With eAssist, PerfectLaw provides the timekeeper with a template that may be referenced to avoid billing errors from the start.
PerfectLaw’s Back Office allows users to attach or swap out images to invoices after they’ve been posted. Often, vendors will submit their invoices with an image in an effort to keep accurate records. But, sometimes the image isn’t available or a back office user simply forgot to include it on the posted invoice. When this happens, some products require the invoice be reversed and re-entered with the image. But not PerfectLaw. PerfectLaw’s Back Office allows users to attach images directly onto posted invoices through a standard file browser. To see how, please watch the video below:
In recent years law firm pricing has migrated away from hourly rates to alternatives that include fixed or flat fees, percentage and contingency fees. This movement is driven by law firms as clients increase their efforts to obtain hourly rate discounts and apply greater scrutiny to bills, questioning both hours billed and staffing (numbers and levels of lawyers). In this environment, hourly billers face ever-increasing pressures that actually penalize firms for efficiency. Although this article will focus on one example of alternative pricing—fixed or flat fees—the principles apply to contingent, percentage and other alternatives, as well.
It can be a hurdle when the Back Office has to wait for attorneys to review the pre-bill reports, searching for any errors in the billing. And once the corrections have been reported, the Back Office then has to retrieve the reported changes from the attorney and update the pending bills in the Time and Billing module. This is an unnecessary strain on the Back Office and needlessly duplicates work.
With PerfectLaw’s Distributed Billing module, pre-bill reports are profiled directly to the billing attorney’s matters where the pending bills may be reviewed and edited by the attorney’s themselves, allowing the Back Office to carry on with their other duties.

Starting with Build 106, if a Time & Billing or Account Manager user has multiple bills to be emailed to a single client (a single email address), the software will now create one single email containing all of the bills. This process replaces the old method of having an email created for each individual bill.
This feature will reduce the amount of time spent sending bills and the amount of emails users would potentially have to sift through when searching for sent bills.

With Background Pre-Billing, a separate task is automatically opened in the background when you run your pre-bills, freeing your Back Office modules for other uses while the background tasks complete.

With the latest version of PerfectLaw’s Back Office being released, users will now have greater flexibility to customize their grids, just like AIM users are currently doing in the Front Office.
